Altamont
Altamont
Welcome to fine living in West Vancouver. The neighborhood of Altamont is one of the most affluent areas in not only West Van- but the whole North Shore. Located south of the Upper Levels Highway, and in the middle of the West Vancouver district, this area is where you will find some spectacular homes and estates. The neighborhood is entirely residential and makes for an ideal area to raise a family with exceptional schools, parks, and safety.

Because the neighborhood is entirely residential- there isn’t much more to be found than houses and winding streets. However, there are numerous parks and green spaces- even public beach access that is tucked in between the blocks that are great places to bring your kids, your pets, or to go to by yourself! Don’t get too down if you don’t have your own tennis court on your property because there are public courts scattered throughout the neighborhood! You’ll also be happy to know that there are trails winding through and around Altamont. It wouldn’t be a real North Shore neighborhood if there wasn’t some sort of trail nearby!
Transit and Walkability
Walkability to services and shops is unattainable due to the seclusion of the area. Marine Drive is the main road that brings you in and out of the neighborhood and connects you to the rest of the North Shore. Here, you are 20 min to Downtown Vancouver and 50 min to YVR.
Schools
West Bay Elementary is a highly-regarded primary school located in West Vancouver, known for its strong academic programs and dedicated teaching staff. Rockridge Secondary is a well-respected high school in the area, offering a wide range of advanced courses and extracurricular activities for students to participate in.
Cons
Living in West Vancouver's Altamont area has some drawbacks, including a high cost of living. Property taxes are also generally high, and homes in the area can be rather pricey. In addition, there might be severe competition for housing due to the area's high demand. Another drawback is how far away and isolated the community is, which might make it challenging to use amenities and services that are offered elsewhere.
