Grouse Woods

Grouse Woods

At the top of Capilano Road, along Nancy Green Way is Grousewoods- a small residential neighbourhood that lies right at the base of Grouse Mountain. This area has a cabin and resort-like feel to it because of its seclusion and close proximity to nature. Grousewoods is a newer development in North Vancouver, built in the 1980’s when the District opened it up for development. It is located at the foot of Grouse Mountain off of Nancy Greene Way. All homes were built under a strict building scheme designating that all homes had to be built as West Coast Contemporaries with paint in neutral earth tones and cedar shake roofs. This building scheme has since expired and you will see the odd house that has ventured out with different colours of paint, roofing, and most noticeably building styles.

Capilano Suspension Bridge is the most visited attraction on all of the North Shore. This is a 30-acre park with seven different suspended footbridges offering views 110 feet above the forest floor. Open all year-round, the suspension bridge offers immersive educational experiences talking about the forests and history of the site, as well as the famous ‘Canyon Lights’ tour during the holiday season. Just up the street from the suspension bridge and connecting to that same park is Cleveland Dam. The Dam sits atop the Capilano River Regional Park. Capilano Lake and the peaks of the Lions provide a spectacular backdrop. Capilano-Pacific Trail runs 5 miles (8 km) north from Ambleside Park to Capilano Lake. And last but not least, rising over 4,000 feet above Vancouver and just 15 minutes from the city’s downtown core is the vast alpine playground of Grouse Mountain. As one of Vancouver’s most popular attractions, Grouse Mountain is the only truly four-season destination in th

Transit and Walkability

Some homes in these neighbourhoods are within walking distance to Edgemont Village- a key feature of living here! By car, you are just 15 minutes to downtown, 2 minutes to the highway, less than 10 minutes to Park Royal, and 40 to the Airport!

School

Braemar, Mountroyal, and Canyon Heights Elementary Schools provide a solid foundation for students as they advance to Handsworth Secondary, where they can continue their education from grade 8 to 12.

Cons

This area doesn't have a great walkability score; the hills make it a bit harder to get around. It also is pretty far away from everything, meaning it’s a good idea to commute by car. It is also common for more northern neighbourhoods to get more snow and rain during colder months.
